the northern challenge of Caracalli; Golnoor against the champion
Golnoor Isfahan basketball team, in one of the most sensitive matches of Week 13 of the Iran Men's Basketball Premier League, will be a guest of Kalleh Mazandaran on the afternoon of Tuesday, 1 Dey, at 17:30 at Payambar-e Azam Hall in Amol; a difficult and fateful match for the Caracals against one of the main title contenders.
Golnoor, which began the second half of the season with a promising display and a valuable victory over Tabiat Eslamshahr, must now line up in a major away test against a prepared and star-studded Kalleh team. Given the positions of the two teams in the standings, this clash is highly sensitive and could influence the course of the rest of the season for both sides.
The Isfahan representative stands in fifth place in the table with five wins, six defeats, and 16 points accumulated. Hamidreza Shams's pupils, who went through many ups and downs in the first half, took their first step in the return round by defeating Tabiat 72–68, making up for the first-round defeat and showing clear signs of technical and mental maturity.
In that match, relying on cohesive defense, rebounding superiority, and precise decision-making in the closing moments, Golnoor showed it had learned to manage close games and could challenge top teams. This victory visibly boosted the Caracals' morale and sent them to Amol with greater confidence.
On the other side, Kalleh Mazandaran stands second in the table with nine wins, two defeats, and 20 points. Farzad Kouhiyan's pupils last week handed league leader Esteghlal its first defeat of the season, showcasing their strength and high readiness.
The first-leg meeting between the two teams also ended in Kalleh's favor; Golnoor lost that match 68–57 to its powerful opponent. Now, however, the Isfahan representative, with more experience, greater cohesion, and redoubled morale, is looking to make up for that result and produce a different display at Kalleh's home.
A victory in this match could improve Golnoor's position in the table and reduce the gap with the top contenders. Although home-court advantage and Kalleh's experienced roster have made the task difficult for the visitors, Golnoor hopes that by maintaining defensive discipline, sharing responsibilities on offense, and staying focused, it can create one of the surprises of Week 13 in Amol.
