The second half, the new narrative of Golnoor at home
Golnoor Isfahan basketball team will host Tabiat Eslamshahr on Tuesday, 24 Azar, at 17:00 at Shohada-ye Mokhaberat Hall in its first match of the second half of the Premier League.
After a first half with many ups and downs, Golnoor Isfahan is now on the verge of the second half, seeking to consolidate its upward trend in the Premier League standings. Hamidreza Shams's pupils finished the first half in seventh place with four wins, six defeats, and 14 points, and hope to begin the second half with a positive result by relying on experience from big games and correcting weak points.
In its last match against league leader Esteghlal, Golnoor lost 76–66, but produced respectable passages and kept pace with the title contender until before the third quarter. Golnoor's wins in the first quarter and a tie in the second quarter showed that the team can compete with top teams, although a dip in the third quarter shifted the game's path in the opponent's favor.
Statistically, Golnoor put up a defensible performance in that match; 36 rebounds, 24 points from bench players, and 87 percent free-throw shooting demonstrated the team's capacity to control the game and take advantage of opportunities.
In Golnoor's lineup, Ali Maleki, with 21 points and an efficiency rating of 26, was the team's key piece in the last game, supported by players such as Amirhossein Majiri and Mehdi Afkhami, who shaped Golnoor's offensive structure. However, an off day for some pieces showed that the team needs a more balanced distribution of roles to overcome direct rivals.
On the other side, Tabiat Eslamshahr stands fourth in the table with six wins, four defeats, and 16 points, and is one of the teams looking to consolidate its place among the top half. Tabiat lost 80–70 to Esteghlal in a postponed Week 10 match. The Golnoor–Tabiat clash is therefore doubly important; a Golnoor victory could reduce the points gap and alter the equations in the upper half of the table.
Now, with home-court advantage and experience of overcoming the pressure of big games, Golnoor hopes to begin the second half with a key win; a win that not only improves the team's position in the table, but also shows Golnoor in the second half as a different and tough team for every contender.
